It's August....what should you be thinking about

Applicant: If you have not applied yet, get going!

If you are completing secondary applications, turn them around within 2 weeks.

As school starts, stay ahead of your studies to make room for when you leave for interviews.

If you are working, stay ahead of your work to leave room for when you leave for interviews.

2018 Matriculants: Senior/Junior/Alum. Write up a blurb on your summer experience/s. You will thank me because it will save you time when you apply via AMCAS next summer and when you update your resume for professors. A draft is sufficient. Make sure you identify a contact person was and how many hrs youi worked. Determine where are the weaknesses/voids in your application and address them. Identify people who will write your recommendations. Look at med school prerequisites and make sure you have planned ahead for PSY, SOC, BIOCHEM. This is the start of your medical school research.

Underclassmen: Do an audit of what you still need and go get it. Address the vacancies and voids and go fill them! Join a club. How can you be a leader? Get to know at least 2 faculty this semester. Can you get a research experience? Do you have clinical experiences? How can you make an experience deeper and broader rather than join another club/activity? Have you thought about studying abroad? Go see your advisor and make sure you are on track and don't miss deadlines for study abroad and research opportunities.
