Probably the worst part of being a doctor...telling people you could not save their loved one. This compelling story will give you a real sense of what it feels like to tell a family their loved one is gone.

In reading this story, it brings me back to Dr. Walter Baile's six step protocol for delivering bad news to people. Although this is from an oncology perspective, it is completely transferable to every situation. As hard as it may be, it's a reality of your life as a physician.
